Mary's Comment: Now that you are into the meat of the article, what do you think is being promoted? If you said fiber you are correct. All of these foods are healthy and contain fiber which is important in helping one fill more full as well as performing other important tasks for our bodies. Most Americans eat too little fiber and whether it is spring, summer, fall or winter, our seasonal food supply, depending on what you choose, is rich in fiber. Just remember that fruits, vegetables and whole grains are good sources of fiber and will help meet your nutritional needs for this nutrient as well as helping you feel fuller.

Now, all you have to do is squash that little voice in your head telling you to have dessert.

Mary Taylor, MS, RD, CDE, LD Mary Taylor, MS, RD, CDE, LD holds two master's degrees in nutrition and has taught at Southern Illinois University, University of Minnesota, Duluth, and Minnesota State University.

She is a recognized speaker with over 25 years of experience and has special interests in obesity, diabetes (she is a certified diabetes educator), and cardiovascular health. She enthusiastically approaches nutrition and this is obvious in her presentations.
